When I was hired to DJ at Natalie & Alex’s Wedding I was pleasently surprised to find out that it was in a venue I’ve never been to before, just 10 minutes from where I’m based.
Lapwing Farm is a beautiful converted barn along with space for a marquee and space for camping with views down towards their own lake. Sadly the weather was awful so I didn’t manage to get any photos of the outside.
The couple had strong views against having cheesy Wedding music and didn’t want to hear certain genres – which of course I can understand. There were many different directions that were ok so I knew it would be ok. The final judges would be their family and guests, as always.
The final playlist for the evening is below. We started off very early, around 6.20pm with a first dance whilst no one was looking – purely for the Photographer to capture a few shots. Then I was left with a room full of parents and very young children for about an hour before I started trying to pull the rest of the guests into the room. This worked well and within an hour or two there was a good number of people and I could start on more of the music I was planning on playing. 100 songs later the evening was over!
