It was great to visit Helesbury Mill for the first time for Gabriella & Toby’s Wedding reception. This was taking place in the Lakeside Restaurant not the large barn due to the numebr of people – around 50 or so which fitted very nicely into the space.
Being Romanian Gabriella wanted some of the Wedding traditions that she’s used to. There was a section around 10.30pm where herself and Toby are sat on chairs in the middle of the dance floor whilst a certain song plays. Family and friends then take her veil and replace it with a scarf and Toby’s buttonhole is replaced with a bowlar hat, all representing that they are now a married couple. Naturally both Bride and Groom are trying to resist these changes whilst they’re happening! Next it’s the Bride and Grooms turn to pick a non-married couple and prepare them for their potential Wedding by doning the veil and button hole on them. It’s the circle of life basically.
After all this another traditional song is played and all the friends and family of the Bride and Groom dance around in circles. It was wonderful to watch and I love seeing every countries Wedding traditions still being used.
