Wedding disco, Folly Farm September

As you know I love DJing Weddings. There’s something about that special day that makes the build up to the party in the evening extra exciting. Being in charge of the final formalities is always an honour, especially when people have travelled many hundreds of miles to share it with the happy couple. All of this took place in the beautiful setting of Folly Farm’s converted barn.

Similar to the South African Wedding at the Zoo and the Italian Wedding at the Guildhall in Bath this was an Anglo/French affair. There were quite a few French tunes on the playlist – which I hadn’t heard of before. I made sure I familiarised myself with these beforehand to get a feel for what would be good to be played before and afterwards.

Nicola and Bastien were a wonderful couple, as she was a singer she entertained the guests before the first dance with a few tunes. When everyone was ready to dance I played some of the French songs and this brought some of the more mature guests out onto the dance floor. The evening got more and more energetic as the video below shows.

As always with foreign Weddings in the UK the fact that the music must end at midnight (or 1am) can always be an issue – but I felt that everyone had well and truly danced themselves proud. It really was a great night which Bastien summed up in an email to me when they’d returned from honeymoon:

We have now settled back to Bristol again after the 2 most awesome weeks in our life. We thought we’d drop you a line to say a massive thank you for you performance at our Wedding. Everyone was very pleased and, from what we’ve heard, you received A LOT of special requests and still managed to please everyone. We really enjoyed the way you played the French tunes that we gave you and the French version of D.I.S.C.O. didn’t go unnoticed 😉
